Blogger buddies RULE!

Dress: Anokhi, Bag and Beanie: Sportsgirl, Boots: India

I have had a rough couple of days and have been dealing with some yucky personal stuff lately and that had made me crawl into a hole and avoid doing much here but then one of my blogger buddies (Hey Debi!)spoke to me all night and that helped me gain a little perspective and I decided I miss my little band of fabulous feminist ladies too much to mope around for long. Therefore here I am...

My love for ethnic blockprint fabric is well documented here as is my unwavering devotion to this brand called Anokhi which supports local crafts people in Jaipur, India therefore I shall not bore you with more odes to this fabric. Instead let me tell you the story of this particular Anokhi dress; made out of thick linen fabric it used to be a maxi which looked completely ridiculous on me, so I hacked it and let the ends fray. I intend on patchworking one of my army bags with the leftover fabric and I love the shapeless-ness plus floaty sleeves of this dress which make me feel like I have wings. All in all a win-win situation, where I have a dress I love which is perfect for fall weather, I can wear a tonne of layers under the dress and it is something that no one else has and fabric from it will help me personalize my army bag. So much happiness from one little dress!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter holiday and feasting on goodies, I am off to do some work and then take it easy. Happy Sunday world!

Tropical swamps and ducks ponds

Shorts: Vintage Levi's 501s, Back-pack: Vintage, Jewellery: India and Sydney markets

A beautiful sunny day plus loads of early morning chores ensured that we wanted to do something that involved some effort, therefore off we went on bikes riding along swamps and duck ponds, spotting birds and bats, eating hot dogs and generally having a ball.

I wore a tee-shirt with a crochet cardigan over a pair of ancient Levi's 501s and then kept taking layers off all afternoon to stay cool, can you tell I am in love with this woven bikini? We met heaps of pretty pups, climbed trees, chilled by a lake, planned renovations in a house we don't have yet, came home and cooked Indian dinner, all in all a beautiful day. Hope you had fun whatever you did. Happy start of the week, can't wait till the Easter break!

Jardin au soliel

Shorts: DIYed Vintage Ralph Laurens, Bikini: Tigerlily and Thrifted embroidered bag

Sorry for the heap of photos but this is more of a 'look at these pretty plants' sort of post, I as usual am wearing ripped denim at the bottom and minimum amount of clothing on the top. Just when I was starting to get my oversize cardigans and jackets out to play, the weather did a complete 180 degrees and it was summer again, not that I am complaining, beach going weather is welcome at all times. Spent a lazy day eating yummy food and walking amongst tropical forest-esque foliage pretending to be on a holiday. I was in heaven around the succulents and cactii, frolicking about in the sun and then promptly lay down for a nap/ day dreaming. The best kind of day! Happy weekend world!

The glorious return of oversize jacket weather

Vintage tee and jacket, Suede boots: France, Jewellery: India+Sydney markets

Its that time of the year again, the glorious trans-seasonal phase when I can wear over-size jackets and beanies with tiny skirts without tights and not freeze. Aah! bliss, if only this pesky flu season wouldn't accompany the perfect temperatures. Wore this today to eat some yummies and go to the local Indian shop to stock up on desi goodies plus heaps of bindis.

Lately I haven't been able to take off my various shell neck-laces, bindis, bright woven bags and this over-size buttery leather made in NZ cozy as hell beauty. Yup summer or winter, my love for oversize band tees remains strong, just add layers till I resemble a polar bear wearing a number of fleece jackets. The neon bracelet visible in some pictures is from the GnR concert I went to on my birthday and I refuse to take it off! Happy start of the week everyone.

Rainbow Shiva

Shorts: Insight, Tee-shirt: Janpath: Delhi, Boots: NineWest, back-pack: Vintage

The city council has painted Taylor square crossing rainbow in order to celebrate MardiGras this year and ofcourse I like a million others couldn't resist taking photos on the funnest crossing I have ever seen. I may have ranted about the cost and the stupidity of keeping it on just for the month of March but rainbow crossing for a month is better than no rainbow crossing at all!

So I know I haven't been posting frequently and have been commenting sporadically on my favourite blogs but I've had a lot on my plate and I am still dazed and dreamy about Axl Rose singing Happy Birthday while I was in the audience ON my birthday. Basically the boy aced it by giving me one of the best birthday surprises of my life. I was quite apprehensive that Axl wouldn't turn up etc but he was right on time, sounded amazing, the band was tight and I have been listening to them non-stop ever since. And now my leather pants have come out to play, but that's stuff for another post. Now that autumn weather is starting to make its presence felt all my grand-pa cardigans are out of hibernation and the cold weather in Europe is making me excited for the onset of winter. I know I'll be complaining about the chill pretty soon but for now I am looking forward to it. Have a happy weekend!

Mardigras parade snapshots: Part deux

I really wanted to dress up for the Mardigras parade this year and then I kinda figured that every year I dress like I really want to look at all times. So I just kept it simple with blue hair, (I wish I had the balls to go through the bleaching process, I've had red and violet before and it really damaged my hair) green lips, booty shorts, a sequinned top and my Docs plus loads and loads of shimmer powder. Easy but something that's really me and it was awesome to be out dressed comfortably in the crowd. The energy, the feeling and the celebration that is this period and the parade just makes me a happy ball of euphoria. I wish these pictures could convey the sheer joy that is being able to celebrate equality in this fashion. I am so happy that my current home is this city that celebrates equal rights this flamboyantly.

Snapshots from the Sydney MardiGras: Part Un

The Sydney Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Queer Mardi Gras festival culminates in the renowned Sydney Mardi Gras Parade, a LGBTQI rights protest and celebration of sexuality. The 2013 parade featured more than 10,000, entrants in 110 elaborate floats and colourful costumes, who represented a community group, topical theme or political message. I cannot express how happy I am to attend something like this for the fifth year and then go dance my heart out. Here are a bunch of snapshots of the people and the fun that is Sydney Mardi Gras.
