I love old clothes aka size does not matter

Leather shorts+tee-shirts: Vintage, Floral skirt: One tea-spoon, Doc Martens

Hi! My name is Tanaya and I love man repelling clothing. The loose leather shorts in the first few pictures, the super old, almost falling apart Metallica tee-shirt plus the over-sized Doc Martens in the last two pictures are things that I love love love and refuse to stop wearing. I have been told quite often lately by well-meaning people that they fail to understand why I want to look ugly when I can look heaps better by wearing tighter more well-fitting clothes. Hmmm! And on one occasion even that I don't need to hide my body since I am skinny, which made my blood boil. So if a person is a little over the size that is deemed appropriate by heaven knows who, one is banned from wearing fitted clothes? Seriously SERIOUSLY???!!!

As you can imagine that statement led to a pretty passionate discussion which thankfully for you won't result in a rant here. But basically I just want to say if as a size zero girl I am happy wearing oversize clothes its my perogative, if I don't want to balance said oversize item of clothing with more fitted little friends again my business, if I want to wear head to toe ill fitting garments, again completely my choice and the phrase age-appropriate makes me want to hurl things. I respect people's right to express or not express their individuality through apparel they don and I am fiercely protective of that right for myself. So all in all clothes that hang off my frame are fun, Docs that are a size bigger so I don't have to break them in are awesome (even if they look comical according to some), loose/old clothes that make me feel like I am wearing sweats are wonderful and above all playing with size and proportions is pretty darn entertaining. More people should try it. What are your thoughts on the topic?

P.S. I received my first letter addressed to Mademoiselle Tanaya today. How fun is that? And the sun's back out (for now) and my tooth is much better, thank you for your kind comments on my last post.

The Nomad

Super old Camo skinnies: Don't remember, Shell anklet+Embroidered Shawl: India, Suede sandals: Wittner, Crochet top: Vintage

It hasn't stopped raining for the last two days, now the winds have taken a decidedly cyclonic turn, parts of Queensland and northern NSW are flooded and I am sitting at home willing my mouth to heal from the wisdom tooth extraction. All in all a super lazy, stay at home weekend consisting of eating mushed up food, ice-cream and watching movies.

Nothing screams comfort to me like super old jeans, crochet, warm shawl, carpet bag and comfy sandals, therefore this outfit. Hope every-one else has had a dentist free time and are staying dry. Come back Sun and I promise never to complain about the heat.

A tout le Monde

Found this shirt in the men's tee section at Vinnies and took a pair of scissors to it et voila my new favourite shirt that I'll never take off. I know I know, I say that about every newly hacked shirt but this one is super large and well-ventilated and the heat wave encourages wearing such clothing therefore this shirt shall stay on my back. In other news I am melting, this heat+bush fire dangers make summer no-fun and someone please send normal pleasantly warm summer weather back to us. That is all. Happy Tuesday everyone!

You could be mine

Vintage leather back-pack, Oxfords: Wittner, Silver: India+Sydney markets

These pictures were taken while walking about in Surry Hills today before getting a bite to eat and our wandering led us to a garage sale with two perfect pairs of Docs, a beautiful blue one and a rad metallic one, in my size. But sadly due to certain events I don't have much money to spare and had to walk away without them but now I can't stop incorporating them in outfit plans. Sigh! Hence the title of the post...Lately with the heat wave Sydney is facing, I've discovered its too hot for denim shorts and all my cotton flouncy skirts have come out to play. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend without extreme temperatures.

Fringe spirited

Vest: Op-shopped, Fringe sandals: Sportsgirl, Bag: Sydney markets, Jewellery: All over

I had decided that 2013 will include posts about things other than just what I am wearing but then this op-shop find/vest happened. I mean seriously? Its vintage, its suede, it was dirt cheap and it is the very definition of fringy awesomeness. I wanted to wear it all by itself in its tasseled glory but then it was pointed out to me, there might be unwelcome consequences so I just piled it over super worn in white tees+tie-dye cardie-thing. The bag I am wearing is handmade from the markets here in Sydney and was a part of my awesome Chrissy gifts last year from the boy and the amber necklace I am wearing was a gift from the boy's Maman this holiday season, good taste runs in the family :D

Hope your first two weeks of 2013 have been amazing. I am an aunt now so I feel very grown up and responsible. Happy Tuesday all!

Stomping on fine sand makes boots rad

Shorts: Vintage Levi's, Boots: Nine west, Corduroy shirt and Harley Davidson Bag: Vintage, Jewelery: India+Gifted+Sydney Markets

The very first weekend of 2013 consisted of heaps of wild kangaroo sightings, sunbaking, binge picnic food consumption, sea shell hunting, dolphin sighting, cockatoo spotting and exploring a beach with the whitest sand in the world, if this sets a pattern for the year I will be more than happy. Also I am happy to report the new looking boots look completely worn-in just the way I like it, stomping on the fine sands of various beaches on Jervis bay gave them the look I wanted plus a coating of dust that is totally rad.

Hope you are having a great start of the year what ever it is that you're doing. Happy start of 2013!

2013

The first weekend of 2013 was gearing up to be a scorcher and we decided to spend it at Jervis bay a 100 odd square kms bay, about two hours outside of Sydney, basically heaps of different beaches and lots to do in terms of holiday entertainment. Since it was just a weekend trip I wanted to pack right, normally I pack too much or too little or haphazardly and miss my wardrobe options too much. I decided to put things together make sets to help me decide what to take, here are the things that made the final cut. A pair of worn to death and then dipped in multi-colour shorts, my latest favourite vintage leather shorts, vintage Harley Davidson cross body bag to carry my wrap+phone on the beach, band tees, missoni-esque sarong, and boots that looked a bit too new for my liking and I thought stomping around in them all weekend would make them more me, swimmers, a cotton top to wear over the shorts in case it was too hot for tees, a vintage corduroy shirt whose sleeves were hacked off in case I needed layers, I also took my flip flops and silver jewellery which you will have to wait to see in the outfit posts. What would you pack for a weekend away at the beach?
